Byram Construction is a family-run business, and as a family, we're big into running - meaning that we watch the London Marathon every year.
But this year was a special one for us.
Our director, Deborah, decided to take on the big challenge by running the London Marathon on behalf of Holmfirth Harriers - with a target of raising £420 for local cause, Kirkwood Hospice.
Her 16-week training plan started back in January, and between then and the big day (28th April), she ran over 500 gruelling miles.
And we're very proud to say, that she completed the challenge with flying colours - doubling her target and raising over £840 for her chosen charity in the process.
Commenting on her first marathon, Deborah said: "I can say it was truly an AMAZING experience, from travelling to the start everyone was so happy and excited. Once I crossed the start-line, the numbers supporting on the streets were fantastic, with cheering and music all the way. The support definitely got me through the last 4 miles.
"Seeing the London sights along the route was very special too. I was very happy to have supported Kirkwood Hospice by generating a little for them as they do an amazing job for those they care for and their families. Thank you to everyone who supported me and for all the donations, it was truly an unforgettable experience which I will always cherish."
